The role:

We are looking for two motivated and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service in Renfrewshire. This is a varied and rewarding role working with individuals experiencing alcohol and drug use, where you will play a key part in delivering person centred care that reduces harm and supports recovery.

You will be involved in assessment, care planning, and ongoing clinical support, including physical health monitoring, harm reduction, and contributing to treatment interventions. You will work closely within a multi-disciplinary team across health and social care, as well as with third sector partners, supporting a coordinated and consistent approach to care.

The role requires a willingness to travel across Renfrewshire to meet the needs of individuals in a range of settings. Your primary base will be Back Sneddon Street in Paisley but a driving licence and access to transport is preferred as assertive outreach is a main function of this role. We are looking for someone who is well organised, non judgemental in their approach, and brings energy and enthusiasm to their work.

Applicants must be first level registered nurses with a valid NMC pin. Candidates without an NMC registration will not be shortlisted.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location based in Bank Sneddon Centre
  • Permanent Contract
  • Full-time position (37 hours per week)
  • Shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities:

  • Functioning as an ADRS Nurse/ key worker within a multi-disciplinary team for a defined patient caseload.
  • The holistic assessment of care needs including risk assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.
  • Carrying out all relevant forms of nursing care pertinent to the needs of individual patients in the least restrictive and disruptive manner as possible.
  • Responding to health promotion needs of patients focusing on improving the mental and physical well-being of patients.
  • Identifying, and responding to the needs of patients which might be related to vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, adult/child protection and/or self harm.
  • Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and carers ensuring that care needs are identified and met within a participative framework demonstrating principles of equality, dignity and respect accounting for spiritual and cultural diversity. Working proactively with other agencies/ services (i.e. interpreter services) to aid effective communication.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job: Essential

  • A Registered Nurse with Level 1 NMC registration
  • Educated to a minimum degree level (or equivalent)
  • Able to demonstrate evidence of active and ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge and application of physical and/or mental health nursing care
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge and application of risk assessment, including factors impacting on physical/mental health, wellness and recovery
  • Able to provide evidence of supervision and reflective practice

Desirable

  • Completion of an evidence-based psychological therapies / psychological approaches to care formal programme of study
  • Evidence of actively working towards postgraduate level study (or equivalent)
  • Completion of a recognised mentor preparation programme and/or being a registered mentor
