An opportunity has arisen for a Mobile Technician within the Wheelchair, Delivery, Repair and Refurbishment Service (WDRRS). The service is based at the Community Equipment Service Store, Peffermill, Edinburgh, and is part of the SMART (Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology) Services at Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh.
Responsibilities
- Undertake repairs and maintenance of manual and powered wheelchairs and children’s buggies, either at the workplace or in the community depending on service need.
- Provide cover for other members of the service, such as the stores and workshop staff, as required.
- Work to the service’s standard operating procedures and NHS Lothian’s policies and procedures, including all Health & Safety requirements.
Work Hours and Conditions
This is a permanent, part time post for 21.6 hours across three full weekdays (the service is open to days that suit the successful candidate). As from 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week, with corresponding increase in hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
