Department of Laboratory Medicine, Blood Science, NHS Lothian Blood Science (Band 7) Biomedical Scientist (Team Manager) Team Manager Based in Blood Science Laboratory WGH

The NHS Lothian Blood Science Laboratories comprise Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Immunology and Serology and operate across three adult sites (RIE, WGH & SJH).

Responsibilities

  • Maximise service provision by ensuring safe and effective service delivery.
  • Adhere to and meet all local and national guidelines and targets, including quality, training and ISO 15189 accreditation.
  • Assist in the introduction of a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and review all relevant workflows.
  • Oversee out of hours participation (back shifts, weekends and overnight) to support 24/7 service provision.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a Masters (or equivalent HSD) in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant experience in Biochemistry and related laboratory disciplines.
  • Proven training and management skills, with experience at specialist level in Biochemistry.
