Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse or midwife who has delivered contraception care and is a faculty registered trainer to work as part of a team delivering a range of SRH training to nursing staff in primary care.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Primary Care colleagues and support their training embedded in a range of LSRHS clinical services, including provision of genitourinary medicine and long acting reversible contraception.
  • Share in the management and leadership of the nursing team.

Essential Criteria

  • First level registered nurse with a current NMC registration.
  • Significant post registration experience working within the speciality of SRH.
  • Experience of managing staff and developing services.
  • Demonstrable interest in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH).
  • Experience in a leadership role and of line managing staff.
  • Extended clinical competencies in sexual and reproductive health, e.g. subdermal implant insertion/removal, microscopy, CSRH LoC IUT and either LoC SDI or local certificate equivalent.
  • Faculty registered trainer (FRT) and experience of delivering STIF training.
  • Driver’s licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working with vulnerable patient groups and use of interpreting services.
  • Independent non medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards this.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours and travel independently throughout Lothian.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025 this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case.

PVG Scheme membership/record is required; if not currently a member, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before the post can commence.

The post is Band 7 on the Agenda for Change payscale. As this post is part time, the salary will be pro rata.
