Lothian Substance Use Service

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a 0.5 WTE Band 8b Senior Principle Applied Psychologist to work within the Lothian Substance Misuse Psychology Team in Edinburgh. The role includes developing and delivering a plan for psychological therapies, leading training and supervision, engaging in consulting and direct clinical work, and contributing to service evaluation and research. The post may be offered as a job share or on a reduced hours basis; if part time, salary will be pro rata.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of psychological therapies within the Edinburgh substance misuse counselling services and develop an implementation plan.
  • Support the implementation of this plan through staff training, supervision, consultancy working and direct clinical work.
  • Work as part of the substance use psychology leadership team, supporting the clinical lead by line managing and supervising psychologists.
  • Oversee psychology service delivery within designated substance use service areas (e.g., Edinburgh Recovery Hubs).
  • Engage in service evaluation, research and role/service development as required.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Must hold a PVG Scheme membership/record for the relevant regulatory group.
  • Must meet any changes to criminal record checks introduced with legislation effective 1 April 2025.
