Job Overview

Position: Specialist Physiotherapist
Band 6, 2 year fixed term
Location: Western General Hospital, Scotland

Responsibilities

You will deliver physiotherapy assessments and treatments across the Western General site’s specialist wards. The post aims to support flow within the hospital, assisting in the delivery of a consistent and equitable service to patients under the Medical and Medicine of the Elderly specialties care.

Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience in a variety of acute in-patient areas, with proven exposure to acute medicine, medicine of elderly, stroke and respiratory. Ability to prioritise and discharge plan for a wide range of presentations is essential, as is clarity of communication and well-demonstrated organisational skills. Experience of supervision, mentorship and appraisal of other staff members or students is desirable.

There is a regular weekend and overnight on call commitment.

Qualifications and Requirements

Clinical experience in acute in patient physiotherapy, including medicine, medicine of the elderly, stroke and respiratory. Demonstrated organisational and communication skills. Experience of supervising, mentoring and appraising staff or students is an advantage.

Applicants must hold a PVG Scheme membership/record. If not currently a PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before appointment. Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, the appointment will be subject to the PVG Scheme.
