Job Summary

As a Community Mental Health Nurse you will utilise specialist clinical knowledge to inform decision making and clinical judgment from initial assessment through to discharge. The role involves providing specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the management of patient conditions and supporting the multidisciplinary care process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments and manage patient care from assessment through to discharge
  • Provide specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team regarding the management of patient conditions during assessment, treatment and review planning
  • Offer specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives
  • Support the development of the service by improving practice, working collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, and implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policies
  • Provide teaching and supervision to junior staff and students

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possession of a PVG Scheme membership/record for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult); if not currently a member, an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and satisfied before the person can begin in post
  • Specialist clinical knowledge in mental health nursing and the ability to apply evidence based practice
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients and their families
