2028 Traineeships for Scots Law Students

Please note successful candidateswill be invited to attend our Trainee Recruitment Day for 2028 Traineeships for Scots Law Students, which will take place on Thursday 1st October 2026.

Successful recruits will have a Scottish Law Degree at uppersecond or above or an accelerated ordinary LLB following an upper second orabove in their first degree. Our traineeships arestructured over two years and cover four six-month seats in various areas ofthe firm. All trainees spend time in our largest departments – Tax and Succession and Land and Property, these are compulsory traineeseats and there may be an opportunity to spend time in our other departments: Charities , Employmentand Dispute Resolution, Divorce andFamily and Family andPrivate Businesses . The traineeship is mostly based in ourEdinburgh office with some opportunities to work in Glasgow.
Our trainees benefit from a structured mentoringprogramme and each have their own mentor assigned to them. They are expected totake a high degree of personal responsibility for their career from the start.On-the-job training is complemented by regular internal seminars, continuingprofessional development and Partner-led quarterly reviews. It is a continuoustwo-way process with regular feedback and communication.
