Job Description

Join NHS Grampian’s Dental Public Health Team and help drive improvements in oral health and wellbeing across the region. We are looking for a motivated Public Health Practitioner to support the delivery of evidence-based oral health improvement and prevention programmes aimed at reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for our population.

The successful candidate will support the development and delivery of statutory oral health programmes and projects, while also contributing to key Child Health priorities. Working within a multidisciplinary team and alongside partners across NHS Grampian and the three Health and Social Care Partnerships, you will help drive a whole-system approach to improving oral health outcomes through prevention, early intervention, collaboration and evidence-based practice.

This varied and rewarding role offers the opportunity to influence both strategic and operational public health initiatives, working with practitioners, clinicians and senior leaders to deliver meaningful improvements in population health.

The successful candidate will work across both the Dental Public Health and Child Health Teams, dedicating 0.8 WTE to dental public health programmes and 0.2 WTE to child health priorities and initiatives.

Key skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence, motivate and work collaboratively with partners and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience supporting the planning, delivery and evaluation of public health programmes or projects.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to use evidence and data to inform practice and service improvement.
  • Commitment to reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for children and families.
