Health and Safety (Occupational health) Adviser
Portree Dental Care Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and motivated (Health and Safety) Occupational Health Adviser to support employees across our dental practices in Portree and Inverness.
This is a professional occupational health position focused on promoting employee health, supporting staff wellbeing and fitness for work, reducing work-related health risks, and advising management on appropriate workplace health measures.
The successful candidate will work across both practice locations and will provide independent, confidential and evidence-based occupational health advice.

Duties
The Occupational/ Health and Safety Adviser will:
Undertake pre-employment and new-starter health assessments.
Conduct fitness-for-work and return-to-work assessments.
Provide occupational health advice in relation to sickness absence and workplace adjustments.
Support employees returning to work following illness, injury or surgery.
Advise management on reasonable workplace adjustments and rehabilitation plans.
Undertake health surveillance relevant to dental practice employees.
Support the management of sharps injuries, needlestick incidents and occupational exposure risks.
Review staff immunisation status and advise on appropriate vaccinations and blood-test requirements.
Provide advice on occupational risks, including exposure to blood-borne viruses, hazardous substances, musculoskeletal risks, stress and work-related illness.
Support employee wellbeing, mental health and stress-management initiatives.
Maintain confidential occupational health records in accordance with data-protection and professional requirements.
Prepare clear occupational health reports for management, while maintaining appropriate clinical confidentiality.
Assist with the development and review of occupational health policies and procedures.
Deliver staff education and training on occupational health and workplace wellbeing.
Liaise, where appropriate, with general practitioners, specialists, occupational health providers and other healthcare professionals.
Travel between the Portree and Inverness practices as reasonably required.Skills
Strong leadership abilities to guide teams and influence positive health practices
Nursing qualification with proven experience in occupational or clinical settings
Ability to develop detailed care plans tailored to individual needs and workplace requirements
Excellent communication skills for clear, empathetic engagement with employees and management
Effective time management skills to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently
Knowledge and experience of occupational health assessment and workplace health management.
An understanding of fitness-for-work assessments, sickness absence management and workplace adjustments.
Knowledge of employee confidentiality, informed consent and data-protection requirements.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to prepare clear professional reports and provide balanced advice to employees and management.
The ability to work independently and manage a confidential caseload.
Competence in written and spoken English.
The ability and willingness to work across both Portree and Inverness locations
