Hays Construction are delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded specialist contractor to recruit a Contracts Manager on a permanent basis. Based in East Lothian, our client has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors throughout Scotland. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee multiple projects and support the ongoing success of the business.

Your new role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. Working closely with Site Managers, commercial teams and senior leadership, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing several live projects across Scotland.
  • Providing leadership and support to site-based teams.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Monitoring project performance, budgets and programme delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Supporting tendering, planning and pre-construction activities where required.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks whilst driving operational excellence.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record operating as a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager within the construction sector. You will possess strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously. You will also have:

  • Previous experience delivering construction projects within a main contracting or specialist contracting environment.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • A strong understanding of project planning, programming and commercial awareness.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop project teams.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
