What you will do

  • Develop and maintain specialist skills related to the needs of clients and patients in substance misuse.
  • Undertake in-house annual mandatory training including manual handling, basic life support, fire safety, safeguarding (children and adults), and AED training.
  • Contribute to the educational needs of trainees and students, acting as a mentor, assessing competency, and writing placement reports.
  • Participate in the induction process for new staff members.
  • Attend mandatory training events and continuing professional development activities to maintain professional registration.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance working practices.
  • Undertake clinical audits and use evidence-based practice to ensure high-quality care.
  • Demonstrate awareness of research and apply it to clinical practice in substance misuse.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults, ensuring health and wellbeing are prioritized.

Key criteria

  • Professional registration: Professional registration (RGN/RMN) or social work qualification with CPD at Diploma level.
  • Multi-disciplinary experience: Experience in multi-disciplinary settings, with expertise in teaching and professional supervision.
  • Specialist knowledge: Advanced knowledge and skills in substance misuse and mental health issues.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate complex and clinically sensitive information effectively.
