An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Lead Nurse – Endoscopy NHSGGC B8Awithin NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The Lead Nurse will provide visible clinical, professional and operational leadership across Endoscopy Services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality and person-centred care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will play a key role in the strategic development, performance management and continuous improvement of endoscopy services across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a credible and compassionate nursing leader with a proven ability to engage, motivate and support staff while driving service improvement and innovation. They will work collaboratively with clinical, managerial and operational teams to support the delivery of national and local objectives, ensuring services are responsive, efficient and aligned with best practice standards.

As Lead Nurse, you will provide professional nursing leadership and management across Endoscopy Services, ensuring robust systems are in place to support clinical governance, patient safety, quality assurance, infection prevention and control, budgetary management, risk management, workforce planning, education and professional development. You will oversee compliance with relevant national standards, including Joint Advisory Group (JAG) standards, quality improvement programmes and service performance targets. The Lead Nurse is also the professional lead/line manager for Nurse Endoscopists with North/South Sector.

The Lead Nurse must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build effective relationships across organisational boundaries. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional excellence and compassionate care, ensuring robust governance processes are in place to provide assurance regarding the quality and safety of services.

Applicants must be a Registered Nurse educated to degree level or equivalent, with substantial operational experience and a proven track record in a senior clinical leadership role. Evidence of leadership development, quality improvement experience and the ability to work autonomously within a complex healthcare environment is essential.
