Are you an experienced Registered Pharmacy Technician with a passion for training, quality, and technical excellence?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and organised individual to join our Aseptic Services team within our Section 10 unit.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled pharmacy technician to take a senior role in the delivery of aseptic services, supporting staff development, maintaining high standards of practice, and ensuring the safe preparation of medicines for patients across NHS Forth Valley.
About the Role
As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in the day-to-day supervision of aseptic services and the training and development of staff working within the unit.
You will support the preparation of a range of aseptic products including:
- Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT)
- Parenteral Nutrition (PN)
- Clinical Trial Medications
- Other aseptically prepared medicines
Working closely with pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, you will help ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with national standards and local procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of the aseptic unit.
- Supervise and support Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers during routine service delivery.
- Coordinate and deliver training programmes for new and existing staff.
- Assess and maintain staff competencies in line with departmental requirements.
- Act as a mentor and role model, promoting best practice within aseptic services.
- Participate in the preparation and checking of aseptic products in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support quality assurance activities, audits and service improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), national guidance, and local policies.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Experience working within Pharmacy Technical Services/Aseptic Services.
- Qualification as a Pharmacy Aseptic Checking Technician (PACT) or willingness to work towards this qualification.
- Experience of training, supervising, or mentoring staff.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to patient safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Forth Valley Royal Hospital Pharmacy Department is a state of the art purpose built facility. The department and hospital are progressive, embracing electronic and robotic solutions including HEPMA, and strive to deliver high quality pharmacy services.
Participation in a weekend rota is expected of this post holder.
