Job Description
Join our Civils Team and play a key role in supporting the D1215 asbestos removal project and a range of important civils activities across site. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated, hands-on individuals who enjoy practical work, take pride in maintaining high safety standards, and want to develop their skills within a highly regulated and professional environment.
As a Craft Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teams delivering essential asbestos removal, demolition, and civils projects. Whether you already have plant or forklift experience, or are looking to develop new competencies through training, you’ll be part of a supportive team where safety, teamwork, and operational excellence are at the heart of everything we do.
What you will be doing:
You’ll provide vital support to asbestos removal, demolition, and civils activities, helping to safely deliver project work in line with approved procedures and site requirements. Working as part of a collaborative team, you’ll assist with material movement, waste segregation, site logistics, and the preparation and maintenance of work areas, ensuring projects run efficiently and safely. You’ll also support the operation of plant and site equipment within your level of training and competence, contribute to housekeeping standards, carry out basic equipment checks, and actively participate in safety briefings while supporting a variety of civils and operational activities across the site.
- Support the delivery of asbestos removal, demolition, and civils projects through practical labouring and site assistance.
- Assist with the safe movement, handling, loading, unloading, and segregation of materials and waste streams.
- Operate plant and site equipment where trained and competent, with development opportunities available.
- Maintain excellent standards of safety, housekeeping, environmental compliance, and teamwork across site operations.
What you’ll bring:
We’re seeking reliable and safety conscious individuals who thrive in a team environment and are willing to learn and develop new skills. You’ll be comfortable undertaking physical work (as per post specific capability assessment), communicate effectively with colleagues, and demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. A full UK driving licence is essential. Experience within construction, civils, demolition, industrial, asbestos, hazardous waste, or nuclear environments would be advantageous, as would plant operating experience, forklift capability, relevant vocational qualifications, or a CSCS card. However, attitude, motivation, and a commitment to safe working practices are just as important, and training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Strong commitment to working safely in a highly regulated environment.
- Positive, dependable team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Physically capable of undertaking manual handling and practical site-based activities.
- Experience in construction, civils, demolition, industrial operations, plant or fork lift truck operation is advantageous but not essential.
We are looking to hold interviews week commencing Monday 31 August 2026.
If you require assistance at any point during the recruitment process contact at the appropriate time so we can make any necessary, reasonable adjustment.
