Relief Personal Assistant / Support Worker – Jedburgh
A lady living in Jedburgh is looking for a kind, understanding, and reliable Relief Personal Assistant to provide occasional support during periods of staff holiday or sickness.
The role focuses on providing emotional and psychological support, helping her build confidence, enjoy time within the local community, andmaintaina positive and trusting relationship.
This would suit someone who is flexible, dependable, and enjoys providing calm and supportive companionship. The successful candidate will be part of a small support team and may be offered shifts at short notice when cover isrequired.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Offer emotional and psychological support through friendly conversation and companionship.
- Encourage and support the client to access the local community and take part in activities she enjoys.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship to help promote confidence and wellbeing.
- Provide gentle encouragement and reassurance when needed.
- Support the client withmaintainingher home.
- Assistwith meal preparation.
- Support with making appointments whererequired.
- Work flexibly alongside the existing support team to provide consistent and person-centred support.

Skills & Experience Desirable
- Experience in emotional support, mental health, or care work.
- Previousexperience providing one-to-one support.
- A genuine interest in supporting others to build confidence and independence.
Experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
Terms
- Hours: Relief/occasional hours to cover staff holidays and sickness.
- Working Pattern: Shifts to be agreed with the employer, with flexibility required depending on cover needs.
- Rate of Pay: £14.05 per hour.
- Holiday Entitlement: 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata.
- Probationary Period: 6 months.
- Appointment: Subject to satisfactory references and PVG / Disclosure Scotland check.
