Job Description

The role:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a Health Care Support Worker to join our Orthopaedic team, supporting the delivery of high quality patient care within a busy acute hospital environment. Working alongside experienced nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive safe, dignified and person centred care throughout their hospital journey. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Inverclyde Royal Hospital
• Rotational shift pattern
• One full-time post (36 hours) and one part time post (18.7 hours) are available
• Please note that the service would accept a variation of hours
• Both posts are permanent
• Candidates must outline their preference in their application
• Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours

Key responsibilities:

• Assist registered nurses in delivering high quality care to patients within the ward environment
• Support patients with personal care, hygiene, dressing and mobility while maintaining dignity and respect
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers and discharges in line with local procedures
• Monitor patients and report any changes in condition promptly to the nurse in charge
• Support patients with nutritional and fluid intake requirements as directed
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with the completion of clinical documentation
• Ensure clinical areas, equipment and stock supplies are maintained to a high standard

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Good standard of education with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Caring, compassionate and patient focused approach to delivering care
• Ability to follow guidance, procedures and direction from registered healthcare professionals
• Good basic numeracy and literacy skills
• Previous experience in a healthcare, residential care or nursing home setting is desirable
• Acute hospital or orthopaedic ward experience would be advantageous but is not essential for the role
