The Diagnostics, Anaesthetics, Theatres and Critical Care (DATCC) Directorate is the largest directorate in Acute Services, employing approximately 2,500 staff and managing services across all acute hospital sites and a number of community locations. The directorate plays a vital role in emergency and elective care pathways and is central to the delivery of strategic service improvement programmes.

The Post

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and highly organised Project Support Manager (Band 5) to join the DATCC Directorate within NHS Lothian. Reporting to the Business Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes across the Directorate.

The post holder will support the operational management of projects on behalf of senior managers and programme leads, helping to ensure that project objectives, milestones and timescales are achieved. You will be responsible for monitoring project progress, maintaining project plans, producing reports, supporting governance processes and coordinating communication with a wide range of stakeholders.

A key aspect of the role will involve working closely with Directors, Heads of Service, Site Leads and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate project delivery, manage documentation, track actions and risks, and support programme boards, including the DATCC Financial Recovery Programme Board.

You will also contribute to the development of policies, procedures and project-related training, establish effective communication networks, prepare project updates and presentations, and help drive service improvement initiatives across the Directorate. The role requires the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and develop practical solutions to challenges that may impact project delivery.

The Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with excellent communication and organisational skills who can work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. You will be educated to Higher level or have equivalent experience, with a demonstrable track record of supporting or delivering project work.

Previous experience within the NHS and knowledge of NHS systems would be highly advantageous.
