Hours: 18 hours per week over 3 days (Sat, Sun and Mon)

Salary: £12,726.51 per annum (£13.60 per hour)

We currently have a vacancy for a part time Scheme Cook at our very sheltered housing development at Canal Street, Perth where we provide a professional housing support service to our tenants to help them live as independently as possible in their own homes.

The service provides lunch and dinner to approximately 6 tenants so previous experience in a similar role or of cooking for a similar number of people is essential, as is an understanding of adapting menus to meet the needs of people with differing dietary requirements.

In this role, you will be responsible for all food preparation, ensuring foods are stored safely, clean up after service and ensuring the kitchen is clean and tidy and meets legal standards at all times.

You must possess an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or be prepared to attend training to acquire this.

Normal days and hours of work are Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 6 hour shifts between 11:30 and 18.00 but these may vary slightly depending on the needs of the service. There will also be some additional hours available Tuesday – Friday if agreeable.

This service at Canal Street is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide housing support to older people so meal provision within the service must meet the Health and Social Care Standards of Scotland. Therefore, the successful candidate also must be prepared to;

  • Join the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme run by Disclosure Scotland. Caledonia Housing Association will meet the cost of this.
  • Attend/complete any training which is required to ensure that the dietary requirements and nutritional needs of every tenants are being met or which the organisation identifies as being necessary to ensure that the service meets the Health and Social Care Standards
