We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Haematology Biomedical Scientist within Haematology available in Dundee, UK. This is an ongoing locum position offering a competitive rate of £32.00 hourly for a full-time role. This role requires HCPC registration and a minimum of 2 years of experience. While it is preferable to have a full UK driving licence, it is not essential.

What you will do:

  • Perform core haematology tasks to ensure accurate diagnosis and patient care.
  • Conduct blood film morphology and identify malarial parasites.
  • Perform Sickle tests and haemoglobinopathy screenings with precision.
  • Work collaboratively during out-of-hours shifts to support emergency and routine services.
  • Engage with advanced laboratory IT systems such as Clinysis Labcentre and Winpath Enterprise.
  • Participate in specialist coagulation tasks and factor assays as required.

Person specification: Qualifications:

  • Degree in Biomedical Science or related discipline

Registration & Compliance:

  • HCPC registration

Key Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge in core haematology and blood film morphology
  • Ability to identify malarial parasites and perform Sickle test/haemoglobinopathy screening
  • Ability to work effectively during out-of-hours shifts
  • Competence using laboratory IT systems including Clinysis Labcentre and Winpath Enterprise

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant biomedical science role
  • Experience working within haematology laboratory services
  • Experience performing specialist coagulation tasks and factor assays is beneficial
