We are currently recruiting for a Lead Employability Officer .

Due to the nature of the duties associated with this role, the post is open to women only under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Terms and Conditions

  • Fixed-term contract until March 2027 (with the possibility of extension, subject to continued funding).
  • Annual leave entitlement of 37.5 days per year pro rata , inclusive of public holidays.
  • Occasional evening and weekend working may berequired. Where agreed in advance with your line manager, time off in lieu (TOIL) will be provided.

The post will be primarily based at Amina’s Glasgow office .

The Organisation Amina – The Muslim Women’s Resource Centre opened to the public in April 2002 and officially launched on 1 November 2002.

The organisation currently employs a diverse team delivering a range of services including employability support, advocacy, violence against women and girls services, training, wellbeing programmes, fundraising, communications, administration, and management functions.

Our work is funded through a variety of sources, including the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, charitable trusts and foundations, partnership agreements, fundraising activity, and individual donations.

Amina MWRC is governed by an elected voluntary Board of Directors and is registered as a Scottish charity (SC027690) and a company limited by guarantee (SC432921).

Job Description: Lead Employability Officer Hours of work: Full-time (35 hours per week) or job share considered for the right candidates
Salary: £30,000 – £31,500 per annum, dependent on experience
Location: Hybrid working model, working from home and Glasgow office
Holidays: 37.5 days per annum – pro rata (inclusive of public holidays)
Pension: Defined contribution pension scheme based on employer
contributions of 5% plus additional employee contributions
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Background Amina MWRC is a national organisation which works with Muslim and Minority Ethnic women, to provide opportunities to have their voices heard, improve their skills and become more confident in participating in their own communities and at a wider level.

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Employability Officer to lead and develop our employability and adult learning programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals from diverse communities to build skills, access learning opportunities and move towards sustainable employment.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of our employability services, including the No One Left Behind programme, funded by Glasgow City Council and delivered through the Glasgow Ethnic Minority Service (GEMS) consortium. Led by Bridges Programmes, GEMS brings together community organisations and education partners, including Glasgow Clyde College,CranhillCommunity Trust, Community Renewal,GECCo, Govanhill Community Development Trust and Amina MWRC, to provide accessible and inclusive employability support to marginalised communities across Glasgow.

As Lead Employability Officer, you will line manage and support Project Officers delivering these services, ensuring high-quality provision and positive outcomes for service users. You will also build and strengthen partnerships across the voluntary,statutoryand private sectors, developing collaborative initiatives that create opportunities and remove barriers to employment.

This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for supporting people to achieve their potential, and experience of developing employability programmes and partnerships. You willplay a key role in driving forward Amina’s employabilityobjectivesand helping to create lasting positive change for the communities we serve.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for Amina’s role within the GEMS consortium, contributing to partnership planning,governanceand the delivery of high-quality employability services under the No One Left Behind (NOLB) framework.
  • Lead and manage the Employability Project and associated adult learning programmes, including ESOL, ICT and skills development courses, supporting Muslim and Minority Ethnic women into education,trainingand employment.
  • Develop and implement project workplans in collaboration with the line manager, ensuring effective delivery againstobjectives,outcomesand funding requirements.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-centred services that are responsive to the needs and experiences of Muslim and Minority Ethnic women.
  • To deliver holistic employability casework support.
  • Provide line management,supervisionand performance management to Project Officers.
  • Oversee the planning, design and delivery of employability workshops,trainingand other project activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other Amina projects to develop,coordinateand deliver outreach activities and integrated services.
  • Develop andmaintaineffective partnerships with employers, training providers, communityorganisationsand other stakeholders to enhance opportunities for service users.
  • Organise and coordinate employer engagement activities, including faith and cultural awareness training, to increase access to employment,volunteeringand work placement opportunities.
  • Promote Amina’s services to external agencies,employersand local communities to strengthen referral pathways and partnership working.
  • Represent Amina and the GEMS project at meetings, working groups, seminars,conferencesand events, advocating for the needs and experiences of Muslim and Minority Ethnic women.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure project performance,outcomesand impact.
  • Maintainaccurateproject records, ensuring effective use of databases and management information systems.
