Financial Controller Purchase to Pay (Fixed Term 12 months)

Location: St Andrews Square, Edinburgh (hybrid: office 3 days a week, home 2 days)

Salary: approximately £62,920 per annum (base), plus benefits listed below.

Contract: 12 month fixed term

Closing Date: 31 July 2026

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day to day operations of the UK PtP team (managing 3 people)
  • Business partner the Heineken UK purchasing population across all functions
  • Ensure appropriate PtP risk controls to deliver ongoing performance and liability quality relating to trade payables
  • Act as a key point of contact for PtP colleagues in shared service centres in Krakow and India
  • Support the Head of Reporting & Accounting – oversee financial reporting of PtP sub ledger liabilities from aged creditors, GRIR & invoice management across HM (SAP) and Star Pubs ERP
  • Provide assurances on the quality and ageing of the company’s liabilities within Payables to assist with proper accounting and good cash flow management
  • Direct line manage, develop and coach 3 Finance Analysts
  • Ensure all day to day and routine PtP tasks are completed within SLAs
  • Business partner any section of the business that requires purchasing goods or services
  • Product meaningful and insightful management reporting to inform commercial performance and working capital decision making
  • Make informed decisions around payment – exercise delegated payment authorisation, prompt payment ahead of contractual terms, and cash management in conjunction with Treasury Control
  • Operate as an escalation point for issues with internal or external stakeholders
  • Ensure all operational activities comply with HUK Procurement Policy
  • Provide guidance and support to own team and team leaders in HGSS to improve PtP quality, protect assets, and align with Making Cash Count

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong people and process manager who enjoys managing people and working as part of a team
  • Advanced Excel skills – VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, large data manipulation
  • Excellent analytical skills with an enquiring mindset
  • Motivated by continuous process and control improvement and efficiency

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in PtP, Accounts Payable or a similar function
  • Experience with a major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Business Central) or other sub ledger system
  • Experience working with processing teams in remote shared service centres
  • Involvement in a prior system migration, implementation, or major upgrade – familiarity with data governance and data integrity principles
  • Experience within FMCG or a large organisation

Working Arrangement

Hybrid model – office Tuesdays, Thursdays, and one other day; remote for the remaining two days.
