Early Years Assistant – Pennywell Early Learning and Childcare
Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro rata for sessional). Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional.
Early Years Assistant job at Pennywell Early Learning and Childcare. This new centre opened in August 2024 and is part of the MacMillan Hub. The hub provides a range of services for the local community through partnership working with North Edinburgh Arts and the relocated Muirhouse library.
We are recruiting an enthusiastic Early Years Assistant on a permanent, 39-week, sessional basis.
Qualifications and Requirements
Although no formal qualification is required, candidates should have a good basic education and be literate and numerate.
Early Years Assistants must apply for registration with the SSSC within three months of being offered a post and must also gain an SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification within three years of taking up the role.
Successful candidate will work shift patterns with hours between 07:45 and 18:00, Monday-Friday, with some late shifts on rotation each month.
Pre-employment Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Act 2007. The candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more out of the UK in the last five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. Offer and commencement are conditional on satisfactory completion of these checks.
