We are looking for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory to join the Microbiology department based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

Consideration will be given to applicants who are HCPC registered or working towards HCPC registration. If successful at interview, they will be required to complete relevant IBMS portfolios and the schedule of in house training provided, within the agreed time scale, prior to progression, and the salary will be paid at Band 6 Annex 21 of the A4C Terms and Conditions.

Responsibilities

Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are supported and encouraged. The position requires working shifts over seven days, including public holidays, on call, evening and weekend shifts as required. Rotation into other laboratory disciplines may be required based on service needs.

The laboratory provides Microbiology support to the acute hospital and also to general practices and community hospitals in the surrounding area, handling around 300,000 investigations per year. The laboratory is accredited by UKAS ISO 15189:2022.

Qualifications and Requirements

– HCPC registration (or working towards registration) is mandatory. – Experience in a Microbiology Laboratory as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist. – Completion of IBMS portfolios and in house training within the agreed time scale. – Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is required; more information can be found at .
