Support Worker / Personal Assistant – Kelso

A friendly, reliable, and practical Support Worker/Personal Assistant is sought to provide support to a lady living in Kelso. This rewarding role focuses on helping maintain a comfortable home environment while providing companionship and encouragement with everyday activities. The successful candidate will support with practical household tasks, light gardening, and spending time together over a coffee, helping to promote wellbeing, independence, and an enjoyable daily routine.

The lady has a small dog, so applicants should be comfortable working in a dog friendly home.

Vacancy Information

  • Location: Kelso
  • Hours: 4 hours per week
  • Working Pattern: Two 2 hour visits per week, afternoons (from 1:00pm onwards). Mondays are not required.
  • Rate of Pay: £14.05 per hour
  • Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Contract Conditions: Subject to satisfactory references and PVG check
  • Probationary Period: 6 months

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and social support in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Assist with practical household tasks to help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home.
  • Support with light gardening tasks as required.
  • Spend time together enjoying a coffee and conversation, helping to reduce social isolation.
  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate practical support.
  • Build a positive, professional, and trusting working relationship.
  • Respect privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

Skills and Experience Desirable

  • Previous experience in a support or personal assistant role.
  • Confidence carrying out practical household tasks.
  • Experience with light gardening.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working within a person’s own home.

Terms

  • Hours: 4 hours per week.
  • Working Pattern: Two 2 hour visits per week, afternoons (from 1:00pm onwards), excluding Mondays.
  • Rate of Pay: £14.05 per hour.
  • Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata.
  • Probationary Period: 6 months.
  • Employment subject to satisfactory references and PVG check.
