Construction & Contracting Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Highland and North Grampian Area Office(s) – covering North of Scotland (occasional travel to other regions and the Central Belt).
Overview
Join our Construction & Enablement (C&E) Team as a health and safety advisor, working predominantly on site with hybrid flexibility. You will drive continuous improvement, foster a positive safety culture and support our ambitious “Beyond Zero Harm” vision across the Capital Investment Programme and operational activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert health and safety advice across the business to ensure legal compliance and alignment with strategic goals.
- Identify, assess and manage risks, and develop continuous improvement of safety standards, procedures, and controls.
- Lead and contribute to incident investigations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Design and deliver engaging training programmes and collaborate with managers on improvement plans.
- Audit management systems across operations, suppliers and contractors to foster continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to influence behaviours and embed outstanding safety practices.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum). NEBOSH Diploma or working towards one is advantageous.
- Operational health and safety experience, ideally in construction or utilities sectors.
- Strong understanding of current legislation, industry standards and best practice.
- Independent, solutions focused mindset with confidence to engage across a large geographic area.
- Full GB issued DVLA driving licence (to travel regularly between sites in North of Scotland).
