Overview

Speciality Doctor Acute and General Medicine – NHS Lanarkshire is seeking an additional hard-working and enthusiastic candidate for a Speciality Doctor Acute and General Medicine post. This is a mixed General Internal Medicine and Acute Medicine role.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the general medical on-call rota (senior tier) with duties around one evening per week and weekend day shifts (approximately one weekend every 6-8 weeks).
  • Provide daytime duties in acute medicine, including medical assessment, ambulatory emergency care, and high dependency unit coverage.
  • Participate in rotational duties on downstream specialty wards as required by service needs and training requirements.
  • Work under direct or indirect supervision of a consultant.

Role Details

There is no planned night-shift commitment. The post may include rotational duties on downstream specialty wards and will be supervised by a consultant.

SPA Time and Professional Development

Proposals for additional SPA time are encouraged. In addition to the 1 PA for Non-DCC/SPA activities, the board supports applications for additional SPA time for individuals with ideas to improve services who demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, medical education, research and development, or acting as an appraiser. Applicants wishing to undertake more than 1 PA for SPA duties should discuss proposals with the identified Recruitment Lead and/or Service Manager.
