Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator (OSPI) – Waverley Court

Salary: £40,501 – £47,639

Hours: 36 per week

We are recruiting a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator to work within Operational Support, Performance and Improvement (OSPI). This role will support health, safety and environmental risks and responsibilities within the workforce and at depots, delivering projects to improve processes and infrastructure. The coordinator will assist responsible managers with compliance and improvement regarding health, safety and staff wellbeing.

The role involves supporting operational services through change by applying change management principles, coordinating improvement projects, and promoting collaboration and communication across teams to achieve better outcomes for staff and customers.

Job Activities

  • Coordinating projects and implementing improvements such as process enhancements, equipment procurement, and upgrading staff facilities and resources.
  • Providing advice and guidance to colleagues and senior managers on policy, legislative and organisational matters.
  • Coordinating audits and records management across the service (e.g., risk assessments, method statements, operating procedures) by creating and monitoring annual internal audit plans and ensuring information management systems are up to date and easily accessible.
  • Bringing consistency in approach across Operational Services by reporting on health and safety records, building relationships and using data to identify risks and working with service areas and the Learning & Development team to mitigate these risks and make improvements.
  • Running and overseeing service wide Health & Safety Committee to increase staff engagement, promote standardised practices (e.g., risk assessments, inspections, accident investigations, toolbox talks) and monitor compliance with changing legislation and best practice.
  • Working in conjunction with Corporate Health and Safety and Union colleagues on specific health, safety and wellbeing matters.
  • Acting as a coordination point to ensure service resilience by coordinating with internal and external sources and stakeholders and issuing communication and guidance during sudden or unexpected changes (e.g., during the Covid 19 pandemic).
  • Undertaking other relevant duties in accordance with the function and grading of the post as required.
