PSV/HGV Mechanic / Technician – Thurso Depot
Salary: £19.69 per hour
Location: Thurso Depot, Lovers Lane, Thurso KW14 7EQ
Role Overview
As an Engineer at our Thurso depot, you will play a key role in keeping our fleet of 16 vehicles operating safely and efficiently. The depot handles single deck public service vehicles and coaches that serve the Caithness network.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on fleet vehicles to meet safety and reliability standards.
- Respond to defects and execute scheduled maintenance plans.
- Carry out inspections, fault diagnosis and major component changes.
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed and ensure compliance with company and legal safety standards.
- Work efficiently under pressure as part of a skilled team.
- Support a positive and professional workshop environment in collaboration with colleagues and supervisors.
Qualifications & Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical or automotive technology.
- Valid driving licence.
- PCV licence desirable.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards.
Work Schedule
45 hour working week with opportunities for overtime. Both day and shift work options are available.
