Job Description

Mechanical Fitter

The Mechanical Fitter will develop manufacturing technology and realize new products and systems. You will set up, monitor, and operate various pieces of equipment associated with manufacturing facility requirements to undertake the assembly and testing of Subsea equipment and, where authorized, repair Baker Hughes Subsea products and ancillary equipment in accordance with company and customer procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support for the assembly and testing of subsea equipment while ensuring quality and Health, Safety & Environmental compliance.
  • Assembling subsea equipment and components from engineering specifications and drawings to meet customer requirements.
  • Setting up finished assemblies/products and conducting testing in accordance with routing instructions and engineering procedures.
  • Engaging with Quality Management Systems to ensure defects, non-conformances, and errors are accurately recorded in line with company procedures.
  • Completing all required assembly, test, and inspection documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Utilizing Oracle and other business systems to update work orders, material transactions, job status, and manufacturing records.
  • Demonstrating good basic computer skills to support production reporting, documentation, and system updates.
  • Displaying Baker Hughes Stop Work Authority when necessary to ensure the safety of employees and operations.
  • Supporting site safety initiatives, particularly High Reliability Organization (HRO) councils, including pressure safety and lifting activities.
  • Working a rotational shift pattern to support business and operational requirements.

Qualifications

  • Be a time-served Mechanical Apprentice with a supporting engineering qualification.
  • Have experience within a mechanical assembly role, ideally involving subsea products or similar complex equipment.
  • Be able to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Have experience completing manufacturing, test, and quality documentation accurately.
  • Have basic computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and manufacturing systems.
  • Have experience using Oracle or similar ERP/business systems for production and inventory transactions.
  • Have a good understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements and be able to follow company safety procedures.
  • Be willing and able to work a rotational shift pattern.
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Working Conditions

  • Position based at our Bridge of Don site.
  • Rotational shift working as required by business needs.
