Position Overview

Term: Open ended

The Department of Physics has an inclusive, supportive and friendly environment with an international reputation for pioneering high quality research and technological advancement in areas including photonics, optics, quantum science and technology, plasma physics, nanoscience, and the interface of physics and the life sciences. The Learning, Teaching and Assessment strategy is to deliver research informed programmes that introduce students to the latest advances in physics while covering core concepts and developing essential professional skills. All taught programmes are accredited by the Institute of Physics.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
  • Deliver established teaching modules and student assessment activities.
  • Develop new course material as required.
  • Plan, manage, and report on workload independently.
  • Provide student support and promote a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to PhD level in Physics or a closely related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex material in an accessible manner.
  • Experience of student support.
  • Must have obtained a PGCert in Academic Practice or complete one during the probationary period.
