Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Onshore HSSEQ Advisor (Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality) to join our team in Aberdeen, supporting the FPSO operations in the UK Continental Shelf.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative HSSEQ function focused on supporting the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient operations. In this role, you will provide practical HSSEQ advice and support across onshore and offshore teams, collaborating closely with key stakeholders to ensure MAH risks are effectively managed and mitigated.

You will contribute to the delivery of safe operations by leading and participating in a variety of risk management activities to achieve continuous improvement across the business.

Reporting to the HSSEQ & Compliance Manager, you will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the onshore and offshore operations teams, as well as functional support teams to provide clear, well evidenced advice and constructive challenge in support of effective operational decision-making.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide HSSEQ advice and support to onshore and offshore operational teams.
  • Support the identification and management of Major Accident Hazards (MAH), health, safety, and environmental risks.
  • Contribute to compliance with legislation, the safety case, and company management systems.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations.
  • Deliver assurance activities, including audits, verification both onshore and offshore.
  • Support regulatory inspections and follow-up actions.
  • Prepare HSSE reports and analyse performance data.
  • Support the delivery of safety campaigns and HSSE initiatives.
  • Offshore visits to FPSO assets and periodic travel to support operations.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven experience in an HSSEQ role in the UKCS with an operator or Duty Holder is essential.
  • Understanding of the UK Safety Case regime and offshore HSE legislation including a good understanding of environmental legislation and permitting.
  • Knowledge of Major Accident Hazard / process safety management.
  • Experience leading incident investigations.
  • Experience of leading and participating in audit and verification programmes.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel and work offshore on the UK Continental Shelf, with relevant certification (e.g. BOSIET/FOET and offshore medical) – essential.
  • Risk assessment and incident investigation training (TOPSET preferred) – essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – essential.
  • Experience using Synergi or similar systems – desirable.
  • Additional training such as MEMIR or OIM legislation – desirable.
  • TEAM player who can easily integrate into a high performing, established operations organisation.
  • Strong professional judgement and the ability to provide clear advice and constructive challenge.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build positive and effective working relationships across onshore and offshore teams.
  • A confident and collaborative approach, with the ability to engage effectively and provide constructive challenge.
  • Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, sound judgement, and a constructive approach to understanding issues and driving improvement.

This is an Aberdeen based position and candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK. Attendance is required in the Westhill office as per the current hybrid working plan (Min 3 days per week).
