Contract options: a three-month contract starting on 3 August with the possibility of a permanent role, or a straight permanent appointment from the outset.
This role is an IT Support Technician within the Managed Desktop Services team, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining laptops, desktops, RPOS systems, and related hardware.
It requires a blend of onsite visits and remote support to resolve issues quickly and keep customer systems running smoothly in a service led environment that values quality, communication, and first time fix.
What you will be doing
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults across laptops, desktops, and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems including Windows and other common platforms.
- Support users onsite and remotely, providing clear and practical guidance.
- Carry out repairs, component replacements, and system upgrades.
- Troubleshoot printers, connectivity issues, and RPOS hardware.
- Complete accurate job records, service notes, and repair documentation.
- Follow data protection, backup, and security procedures.
- Escalate more complex issues when required.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and communication.
- Keep up to date with hardware tools, technologies, and repair methods.
A typical working pattern is Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30, with a one hour lunch break.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience in laptop or PC hardware repair or IT support.
- Strong understanding of hardware, software, and operating systems (Windows experience essential, macOS or Linux beneficial).
- Experience using diagnostic tools and fault finding techniques.
- Confident troubleshooting skills across hardware and basic networking issues.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
