Location: Brunton House Cowdenbeath
The Throughcare teams are responsible for the supervision of adult men subject to post release supervision of individuals convicted of sexual offences and those who pose a high risk to the community. The successful candidates will be expected to manage a diverse, complex and challenging caseload.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking risk assessments and associated liaison tasks with Police and Social Work colleagues.
- Prepare Justice Social Work Reports (JSWRs) for Court and manage release licences and Supervised Release Orders.
- Prepare reports for Parole Board, Scottish Courts Service, MAPPA, Scottish Government and Scottish Prisons Service.
- Prepare risk assessments and risk management plans as per service policy and to ensure that these are rigorously implemented.
- Supervision of individuals convicted of sexual offences and those who pose a high risk to the community, ensuring that those supervised are in line with the National Throughcare Guidance for Justice Social Work Services.
- Apply best practice principles to the development, implementation and review of individual risk management and supervision action plans that address offending behaviour.
The Person
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
- Knowledge and understanding of Justice Social Work.
- Previous experience of working as a qualified Social Worker.
- Knowledge of National Outcomes and Standards.
- Ability to work in a multi disciplinary setting and to operate in a case manager role.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
- Knowledge and understanding of social work values.
- Ability to travel throughout Fife and beyond as required.
- Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
- Due to the requirement to access the Multi Agency Public Protection System (MAPPS), successful applicants will be required to undergo Non Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) at a minimum of Level 2, with ongoing review of this vetting level in line with agreed Home Office standards. Applicants must agree to undertake this vetting process as access will be a necessary part of their role.
You will be required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within three months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning CPL over the first registration period.
