About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, forward thinking and highly motivated pharmacist to join the Cancer Services Senior Pharmacy Team. The post will enable continued provision of non-medical prescribing clinics to patients with prostate and breast cancer who are receiving systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT). The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to create new SACT delivery models which will meet the needs of patients and our growing cancer service. Alongside the prescribing of SACT, you will work as part of the homecare team to support the provision of SACT to patients at home.

The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) lies within the Southeast of Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN), providing day case, inpatient and outpatient services for oncology and haematology patients. The pharmacists at ECC are integral to the multidisciplinary team and are highly valued to ensure accurate and safe delivery of systemic anticancer therapy. The post holder will also have responsibility for coordination of education for pharmacy and medical undergraduates, and for contribution to protocol and guideline development through departmental SACT & medicines governance groups.

About You

  • A Master of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent).
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • A Clinical Diploma or Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy.
  • An Independent Prescribing qualification.
  • Proven experience in proactively influencing prescribing in a cancer setting.
  • A track record of delivering person centred pharmaceutical care.
  • For candidates who have not completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy: substantial progress across the four pillars of the RPS Core Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum through the following:
    • Engagement with the RPS Core Advanced Curriculum.
    • Active participation in a community of practice / peer network.
    • Submission of a screenshot of portfolio (programme of learning page).
    • Completion of the RPS learning needs analysis tool to assess progress with the Core Advanced Curriculum and any gaps that will need to be addressed as part of PDP plans.
  • For candidates who have completed a Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy: completion of the learning needs analysis (LNA) using the LNA tool in the RPS e portfolio, identifying any gaps that will need to be addressed as part of PDP plans.
