Overview
Kames Fish Farming Limited is one of Scotland’s leading aquaculture companies, producing high-quality farmed Trout while maintaining the highest standards of fish welfare, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
Role
The Technical Manager will work closely with Site Managers and operational teams to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies, reporting directly to the Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance
- Assist compliance with licences, consents, and statutory obligations, working closely with the Environment Manager.
- Monitor changes in Scottish and UK aquaculture legislation.
- Help coordinate regulatory reporting and submissions.
- Help liaise with regulators such as the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Marine Directorate and local authorities.
- Audit and Certification
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Track corrective actions and continuous improvement plans.
- Policies and Procedures
- Develop and maintain company management systems.
- Ensure standard operating procedures remain current.
- Support document control and record management.
- Environmental and ESG Reporting
- Coordinate sustainability reporting.
- Monitor environmental commitments and targets.
- Support stakeholder and customer reporting requirements.
- Maintain compliance registers.
- Investigate compliance incidents and implement corrective actions.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in a technical, compliance, quality, or health and safety role.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- Experience with management systems, auditing, and compliance monitoring.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple sites.
- Confidence in chairing meetings and delivering training or guidance where required.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between company sites.
- Experience within aquaculture, food production, agriculture, or a related industry.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Knowledge of GlobalG.A.P., RSPCA Assured, and Code of Good Practice standards.
