Job Description

Overview

The Spinney Lane Nursery School, located in the grounds of Gilmerton Primary School, provides early learning and childcare for children aged 3 5. The nursery operates term time hours of 8 00 Monday to Thursday and 8 30 Friday, with a full time placement for approximately 60 children since August 2020.

Working Hours and Pay

Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro rata for part time and sessional). Hours: up to 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

  • Post 1: 36 hours permanent
  • Post 2: 31 hours Fixed Term Contract until 02/07/2027

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of all children, including those with additional support needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the early years team and support the Head Teacher/Head of Centre or nominated staff in day to day operations.
  • Carry out general clerical duties as required to support children’s learning.
  • Support the delivery of the curriculum for all children and ensure inclusive practice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Approved for work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad within the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check will be required.
  • Experience working in an early years setting, or a proven ability to support young children’s development.

Other Information

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
