Supermarket Assistant – Delivery Driver

Job Description

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll be bringing the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner led service right to our customers’ doors. You will deliver products directly to customers and support the shop with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping, contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming environment. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 – 06:00 will attract a night premium of £3.75 per hour. Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Check delivery routes for the day.
• Load and prepare your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
• Ensure all necessary vehicle safety checks are completed, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
• Act as an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road, with excellent customer service as a top priority.
• Help customers with their shopping and build rapport based on trust and service.
• Support the wider shop team when required with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience

• Full valid B Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Great customer service skills.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g., lifting crates, moving cages).
• Comfortable working independently with self motivation and adaptability.
• IT literacy.

Desirable skills/experience

• Previous experience in a driving role and knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed.

Pay: £14.31 hourly. Contract type: Permanent. Hours of work: Varied part time work (17.25 hours) across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends. Closing date: June 29, 2026.
