ROLE: MATCHDAY LEAD SAFEGUARDER
TYPE: PART-TIME
Safeguarding and welfare related risks are recognised as some of the most significant identified by Celtic Football Club. The Club has an established Children & Young People’s Wellbeing Strategy 2022-27 (known as Safe with Celtic) which is implemented across all aspects of the Club.
Working under the direction of the Safeguarding Manager, the post holder will be a key member of the matchday and events safeguarding and wellbeing team, leading on the delivery of high quality advice and support to key stakeholders on safeguarding and wellbeing matters that arise during the matchday or event.
The role will be based at Celtic Football Club home matches at Celtic Park and any other events at other off-site locations as required.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead the safeguarding and welfare operation across all Celtic Football Club fixtures at Celtic Park
- Attend the safety officer briefing and brief wider team
- Act as point of contact for members of the workforce and visitors regarding safeguarding matters and respond to immediate safeguarding matters
- Keep a participant focused approach when responding to any safeguarding matters
- Work with the matchday and security team on the management and escalation of safeguarding and welfare concerns
- Record and refer all incidents where concerns / allegations have been raised about the welfare of a child or adult at risk or the behaviour that causes safeguarding related concerns
- Support in the reviewing of matchday activations
- Provide detailed post event review and feedback to the Safeguarding Manager
- Attend and contribute to team meetings when required including matchday and event briefings and debriefs
- Contribute to the culture of safeguarding and raising awareness including policies, procedure and guidance
- Provide assistance and support during internal and external audits
- Ensure that all policies and procedures, including the Safeguarding policy, practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.

- Capacity to handle confidential data/information sensitively

DESIRABLE
- Relevant qualification and training in social care-related areas and / or safeguarding
- Knowledge of the workings of professional sports businesses and particularly the application of safeguarding principles therein
- Knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation
- Experience of implementing policies, protocols and guidance; and
- Experience of working within a safeguarding or welfare response team at events
