Job Description
Justteachers is seeking a passionate, adaptable and resilient PHSE Teacher in the Oakham area. This full time role is to start as soon as possible, with shortlisting currently taking place.
This nurturing provision supports pupils who have experienced significant barriers to mainstream education. The school delivers a flexible, relationship centred and trauma informed curriculum to help learners re engage, build confidence and achieve meaningful progress. Humanities is a key part of the curriculum in helping pupils understand themselves, their community and the wider world.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering engaging Humanities lessons across RS, Geography and PSHE to KS3-KS4 pupils
- Adapting lessons to meet the needs of learners working below age related expectations
- Using creative, practical and discussion based approaches to promote curiosity, self reflection and emotional development
- Building strong, trusting relationships to support engagement, attendance and behaviour
- Embedding trauma informed and restorative practices throughout your teaching
- Working collaboratively with pastoral teams, behaviour specialists and school leaders
- Monitoring pupil progress and supporting personalised learning plans
Pre requisites
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge across RS, Geography and PSHE
- Experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs, SEND or those working outside of mainstream expectations
- Effective behaviour management and de escalation skills
- A patient, consistent and nurturing approach to teaching
- The ability to create an inclusive and structured learning environment
- Two or more professional references within education
