Cleaning Operative – Broughton Primary

Salary: £26,205 – £26,525 (pro rata for part time and sessional). Hours: 15 per week, 40 weeks sessional. Monday – Friday 17:00 – 20:00.

As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering vital cleaning services across our estate to ensure buildings are safe and clean.

Major Tasks / Job Activities

  • Empty litter and recycling bins.
  • Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
  • Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
  • Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required, e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
  • Care and maintain cleanliness of all equipment used.
  • Support cleaning tasks across other buildings where required.
  • Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet agreed standards.

Keyholder Responsibilities

As a key holder you will operate security alarm systems, close accessible windows and doors, switch off lights, and ensure premises are safe and secure when closing.

Background Checks

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. You will be required to join the PVG Scheme or have a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. These checks are mandatory for employment.
