Role Overview
The MWD/LWD Field Specialist is responsible for operating downhole telemetry and formation evaluation tools that provide real-time measurements during drilling. This role is critical for directional drilling accuracy and subsurface evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, test, and deploy MWD/LWD tools for drilling operations
- Monitor real-time downhole data (directional surveys, gamma, resistivity, etc.)
- Ensure accurate transmission of measurements via mud pulse or other telemetry systems
- Troubleshoot tool failures and optimize tool performance
- Provide directional and formation data to drilling and geoscience teams
- Assist with well placement and geosteering decisions
- Maintain equipment in accordance with Baker Hughes standards
- Produce technical reports and post-run analyses
Typical Profile
- Technical diploma or degree in engineering, physics, electronics, or similar field
- Strong mechanical and electronic troubleshooting capability
- Experience in drilling services, directional drilling, or field operations preferred
- Ability to work under demanding rig site conditions and rotational schedules
