Blood Science (Band 7) Biomedical Scientist (Team Manager)

Team Manager based in Blood Science Laboratory WGH. One post available.

The NHS Lothian Blood Science Laboratories comprise Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Immunology and Serology across three adult sites (RIE, WGH & SJH). This role is based in the WGH Biochemistry Department and offers the opportunity to develop technical and managerial skills within a supportive team environment.

Applicants must be HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists educated to Masters level (Masters or HSD) with experience in Biochemistry and related disciplines. The ideal candidate will have specialist level experience in Biochemistry and demonstrated training and management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Maximise service provision, ensuring safe and effective delivery of services.
  • Adhere to and meet all local and national guidelines and targets, including quality and training, and maintain ISO 15189 accreditation.
  • Implement a new LIMS, reviewing workflows and facilitating change management.
  • Provide out of hours participation (backshifts, weekends and overnight) after training to support 24/7 service provision.
