Responsibilities
The post holder will deliver portering duties within wards, departments and office areas when required and instructed, whilst contributing to delivery of patient care in line with organisational priorities.
Driving duties may be undertaken on occasion to ensure flow of patient discharges and to assist with any urgent transport requests when required.
The successful candidate will be required to work weekends and Mondays early shift as required.
Qualifications
Applicants will be required to demonstrate a high level of competence in domestic activities, flexibility and knowledge of the NHS Borders Behavioural Framework.
Working Hours & Compensation
From 1st April 2026 the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Criminal Records Check & Eligibility
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a ‘regulated role’, your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
