Role Overview

As a School Crossing Patrol Officer, you will play a vital role in community safety by ensuring children and other members of the community safely cross the road at a designated point between specified times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe crossing of children and community members during school opening and closing times.
  • Attend the patrol point daily in all weather conditions, including short notice attendance during unscheduled school closures.
  • Work mainly from 08:20 am to 09:15 am and 2:50 pm to 3:25 pm.
  • Adhere to safe crossing procedures and complete any required Occupational Health assessments.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • No formal qualifications required.
  • Ability to cope in all weather conditions.
  • Good road sense, knowledge of the Highway Code / Green Cross Code, and previous experience of working with children preferred.
  • Must obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before appointment.
  • Must attend an Induction Training Day before starting in post.
