General Practice Nurse/Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Job Description

General Practice Nurse / Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Dr McLachlan & Partners are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated nurse to join our friendly, progressive, and supportive GP training practice in Helensburgh.

We are a well established practice with approximately 9,500 patients and a strong multidisciplinary team including 4 GP Partners, salaried GPs, nurses, ANPs, pharmacists and wider healthcare professionals working collaboratively to deliver high quality patient centred care.

We currently have seven nurses within the practice, including Practice Nurses and Advanced Nurse Practitioners, all of whom work flexibly across a broad clinical role. Due to workforce expansion within our experienced nursing team, we are looking to recruit one or two nurses to support and expand our clinical workforce.

Applications are welcomed from:

  • Experienced Practice Nurses
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners
  • Nurses wishing to develop advanced practice skills within General Practice

The successful applicant(s) will be involved in:

  • Seeing undifferentiated patients
  • Acute and same day care
  • Chronic disease management
  • Women’s health including cervical screening
  • Men’s health
  • Potential future implant and coil clinics
  • Home visits where appropriate
  • Working as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team

A priority for the role is independent nurse prescribing. Applications are therefore welcomed from nurses who:

  • already hold Independent Prescriber status, or
  • are enthusiastic and willing to undertake prescribing training in the near future.

We are flexible regarding whether the role is at Practice Nurse or ANP level and are happy to support and train the right candidate with the appropriate attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to developing within General Practice.

The post is available between 5-8 sessions per week, with flexibility depending on the successful applicant(s). Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.

Practice opening hours are 8:30am-6:00pm. Some full day sessions will be required, incorporating a one hour lunch break.

Benefits include:

  • 25 to 33 days annual leave plus public holidays (pro rata)
  • NHS Pension
  • Supportive GP training practice environment
  • Opportunities for further professional development and training

Please submit a CV and covering letter to apply.
