Family Intervention Practitioner

Salary: £26,006.84 per annum

Location: Glasgow (North West & North East)

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract / Full time – 37 hours per week, with some evening and weekend work required to meet the needs of families. The rota includes one weekend in four.

Role overview

As a Family Intervention Practitioner you’ll build trusting relationships with families, understand their strengths and challenges, and advocate for children and young people. You’ll work directly with families to identify support needs, help them navigate difficulties, and connect them with appropriate resources and services, contributing to positive, lasting change and improving outcomes across the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand each family’s needs, strengths and challenges, and provide intensive support through advice, guidance, parenting help and one to one work with children while maintaining regular communication with partner agencies.
  • Plan and deliver focused support for families, review progress, and help them overcome barriers to wellbeing; attend multidisciplinary meetings and work closely with other professionals to advocate for children and families.
  • Collaborate within a multi disciplinary team, building strong relationships with families and partner services.

Qualifications

  • SVQ 3 in social care or equivalent.
  • Post qualification experience working with children, young people and families, achieving positive outcomes through direct contribution with support activities and intervention.
  • Experience working with vulnerable families and a broad understanding of their barriers.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing methods of assessment and intervention.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
  • Competence in report writing and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.
  • Driving licence and access to a car; ability to travel as required, with reasonable adjustments where necessary.
