Job Description

Equality and Diversity

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

About the role

As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs, evaluation of care plans, and ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. In the absence of the Clinical Lead the post holder will have continuing responsibility for the management of the Department including supervision and deployment of staff.

The post holder has responsibility and accountability for maintaining both clinical and staff governance.

The post holder will be expected to participate in duty rosters consisting of day, late, weekends and night shift working. The post holder will also be required to participate in on call rosters, which provide 24 hour cover over 7 days per week.

We are looking for an inspirational leader who is caring, compassionate and motivated to join our strong, empowered and highly skilled nursing family.

Eligibility and Requirements

Post holders are required to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If they are not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, the appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Additional details on these changes are available through the relevant authorities.
