Planner / Programmer – Civil Engineering
Location: Glasgow / West Scotland
Type: Permanent – or temp to perm hire

James Gray Recruitment is exclusively partnered with a well established civil engineering contractor delivering a long term programme of works within the onshore wind sector in the South West of Scotland. This is a permanent opportunity for a Planner / Programmer to join a growing team, supporting the commercial function across a secured pipeline of work expected to run for up to 4 years. The role offers excellent exposure, autonomy, and the opportunity to play a key part in delivering major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain project programmes across multiple civil engineering schemes.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to support project delivery and performance.
  • Produce and update programmes using ASTA (preferred) or Primavera P6.
  • Identify programme risks, delays, and changes, providing clear analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Assess the impact of variations and delays on project timelines.
  • Collate, analyse, and integrate project data into master programmes.
  • Support tender and bid submissions where required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including Bid Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a planning/programming role within civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in ASTA Powerproject (preferred) or Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of programme management, sequencing, and critical path analysis.
  • Ability to interpret changes in programme and assess impact on delivery.
  • Strong data handling and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ambition to progress within a growing business.
