Role Summary

The postholder must be educated to degree level or equivalent experience, with current NMC registration and preferably experience working with young people aged . Excellent communication skills; experience of making sound clinical judgements and previous staff management experience are essential for this role. This post is for 0.5 WTE x 2 Nurse Team Leads (18hrs) and will complement the existing post holders (1.0 WTE). Shared responsibility for managing the team of nurses who deliver clinical and non clinical support to young people aged years.

Duration, Location and Working Pattern

  • Location based in Gartnavel Royal Hospital – the service is delivered in a variety of venues across the city. Travel to venues will be required in the evenings.
  • Permanent contract
  • Part time position (18 hours per week)
  • Shift pattern over three days – to be agreed. Monday Friday & occasional evening delivery to 9.30pm as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Service Manager with ongoing service innovation, development and review.
  • Lead or contribute to service re design and implement service developments.
  • Advise and support the Service Manager in implementing NHS & GCC terms, conditions of service, policies and procedures.
  • Apply relevant organisational policies and procedures including the National Workload Tool.
  • Provide vision, management advice and support to the YHS nursing team to ensure a proactive, effective and positive culture.
  • With input from professional leads, provide leadership to develop and support the nursing team.
  • Promote excellent patient centred, safe and effective care, respecting individuality and cultural and religious diversity.
  • Maintain professional networks and communicate learning to the team and wider HSCP and partner agencies.
  • Ensure all nurses are compliant with the NMC Code and that a system monitors registration and revalidation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential Qualifications and Training
    • Registered nurse at level 1 with current NMC registration
    • Postgraduate qualification or specialist knowledge through community or primary care experience
    • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Expessessical Management Experience
    • Evidence of training, education and experience at team leader/supervisory level within the NHS
    • Experience of multidisciplinary work within and across organisations and with external groups and service users
    • Experience of change management, including designing and delivering new services
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Proven track record in effective leadership, communication, negotiation and influencing
    • Strong management skills: conflict resolution, problem solving, prioritisation, planning and organisation
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation and ability to interpret national policy
    • Ability to coach, support, manage conflict and performance issues
    • Aware of budget management and report writing skills
    • Literacy in current IT techniques
